Injection Blow Injection Blow Molding (IBM)
POOR GATES ('FISH EYES', FLASH, TAILS)
Recommended Actions
Insufficient pack and hold pressure and/or time. • Increase pack time.
• Increase cure time.
• Increase hold pressure.
• Increase screw recovery time.
• Increase decompression time (drool and tails).
• Reduce decompression time (fish eyes).
Improper bottom thickness
• Increase material on parison bottom (fish eyes and holes only).
• Limit material on parison bottom (tails only).
• Increase the temperature in bottom of parison mold (tails).
Improper mold, manifold, or core rod
• Reduce parison mold temperature in gate area.
Temperatures
• Reduce manifold temperature (fish eyes).
• Increase manifold temperature (tails).
• Improve external tip cooling (fish eyes).
